Terms of Use

The friendly rules for playing Juzzle Puzzles. Short version: play fair, be kind, and know that this is a free beta we're still building.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By creating an account or using Juzzle Puzzles (“Juzzle”, “we”, “us”), you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Juzzle.

2. Who can use Juzzle

  • You must be 18 or older. You confirm this when you sign up.
  • During the beta, sign-up requires an invite code. Invite codes are for the people they're shared with.
  • Give accurate information, keep one account per person, and keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for activity on your account.

3. This is a beta

Juzzle is in beta testing. It's free, but it's still being built: features, puzzles, scoring, streaks and badges may change, and we may reset progress, take the service offline, or end the beta. We'll try to give notice of anything significant, but we can't promise the service will always be available or error-free.

Puzzles are generated by software and checked to have a single correct answer, but mistakes can happen. If you find one, please use Report on the puzzle — it helps a lot.

4. For fun, not for health

Juzzle is entertainment. We don't claim that playing improves memory, intelligence, or cognitive health, or that it prevents or treats any condition. Nothing in Juzzle is medical, educational, or professional advice.

5. Playing fair

Please don't:

  • use bots, scripts, or automation to play, or to solve, scrape, or copy puzzles at scale;
  • try to access other people's accounts or data, probe or attack the service, or bypass its limits or access controls (including the invite requirement);
  • reverse engineer the service, or interfere with how it works for others;
  • submit feedback or choose a display name that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, or infringes someone else's rights;
  • use Juzzle for anything unlawful, or for commercial purposes without our written permission.

If you find a security problem, please tell us through the contact details below rather than exploiting it.

6. Emails

We'll send account emails you need (like confirming your address or resetting your password). Daily reminders and nudges are opt-in, are limited as described in our Privacy Policy, and can be turned off in Settings or with the unsubscribe link in any reminder.

7. Our content and yours

Juzzle, including its name, logos, design, software, puzzles and content, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the service for your own non-commercial enjoyment. Your scores and results are yours to share (the share feature is built for that); please don't copy or redistribute the puzzles or other content wholesale.

If you send us feedback or ideas, you let us use them freely, without payment or credit, to improve Juzzle.

8. Ending your account

You can stop using Juzzle any time and delete your account in Settings → Account. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms, put the service or other players at risk, or when we end the beta. Sections that by their nature should survive (like ownership, disclaimers and limits of liability) will.

9. Disclaimers

Juzzle is provided “as is” and “as available”, especially during the beta. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that puzzles will always be accurate, and any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

10. Limits of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Juzzle and the people who run it won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost progress, streaks or data, arising from your use of the service. Because Juzzle is free during the beta, our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to $50. Some places don't allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you, and nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.

11. Changes, governing law and contact

We may update these terms as Juzzle grows. We'll change the date above and, for meaningful changes, let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use Juzzle after a change means you accept it.

These terms are governed by the laws of the place where the operator of Juzzle is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be brought in the courts there, unless local consumer law gives you the right to go elsewhere.
